What we are up to...

New Logo!

Mario Valencia is a Pascua Yaqui artist and co-owner of Creative Solutions Development Group, the one-stop-shop for all your Tucson screen printing and embroidery needs. Thanks to Mario for designing our amazing new Thrive in the 05 logo!

We use the "Thrive in the 05" name to refer to the ongoing revitalization and community building efforts in the Oracle Road / Miracle Mile area. These are a continuation of over a decade of organizing work by dedicated members of the community. Our hope is that this logo represents the identity of the Thrive neighborhoods and the work we will all be doing into the future.

PCC Downtown Campus Updates!

Planning is underway for a Center for Excellence in Applied Technology at Pima Community College that will allow the college to expand business and industry partnerships and give students the opportunity to prepare for high-tech jobs using that latest technology as well as access to a range of new programs. Stay tuned!

Esquer Park Improvements!

We're excited to announce that the city and Tucson Clean and Beautiful are among 159 awardees of the 2019 AARP Community Challenge Grant program from AARP Livable Communities and AARP Arizona!

Through this “quick action” grant program we will increase the availability of recreational activities at Esquer Park near Tucson House by installing an accessible walking path, seating, interpretive signage about native plants, and a dog comfort station. This will be combined with funding from Tucson Clean and Beautiful to install rainwater harvest basins and native plants to encourage bird watching. Wait. What is THRIVE in the 05?

Building on over a decade of work on projects like the Oracle Area Revitalization Plan (OARP), The Oracle Project (TOP), and the Oracle Area Task Force, three current initiatives are teaming up to build community and invest resources in this area. Together, these projects are called THRIVE in the 05!

Community-Based Crime Reduction is a comprehensive public safety initiative which seeks to work with the community to identify and address drivers of crime to help build sustainable communities of opportunity. Grant funded from the US Department of Justice (DOJ) through the Tucson based ASU School of Social Work.
Choice Neighborhoods leverages significant public and private dollars to support locally driven strategies that address struggling neighborhoods with distressed public or HUD-assisted housing through a comprehensive approach to neighborhood transformation. Grant funded from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the City of Tucson's Housing and Community Development Department (HCD).
Pima Community College in partnership with City of Tucson's Economic Initiatives Office is working to connect local residents and businesses to job training, business incentives, and resources. This collaboration on economic and workforce development inclusion arose through the 2018 Daniel Rose Fellowship and Oracle Area Task Force.
